What Causes Brown Discharge After Wisdom Tooth Extraction?

Hello, I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed. They were all impacted. The one on the bottom right however oozes brown liquid and has a foul smell. If I push on the gum with a q-tip the brown liquid comes out. Yesterday, it was mixed with particles (I am assuming food), but today it is just the liquid. I am not sure if this is an infection or just food debris. Thank you.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain brown discharging liquid with foul smell from the wisdom tooth extraction area is an indication of infection in that area and brown colour can be due to slight bleeding in that area and the old blood turns brown once it oozed off...

I would suggest you to do warm saline gargle and keep the area clean and do not let food accumulation in that area..

You should watch for 2-3 days and in case if doesn't get better consult your dentist and he can advise you a course of antibiotics..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
