What Causes Brown Discharge While On Depo Shot?
I took my first depo shot back in February and about a month ago I started experiencing brown discharge. I was due for my next shot last week, and I went and got it in hopes that it would stop the discharge. I know the it is normal, but will it ever stop? It has been five days since I got the injection. It is light but it is inconvenient and I would like it to stop.

Hi,
Depot shot is a long acting contraceptive and has high long acting dose of progesterone group of hormone. This particular medication causes irregular periods and intermittent brown discharge due to side effect of hormone. It will stop as the action drops down but can recur intermittently. More so in beginning days and reduces after few months.

There can be mild vaginal discharge after taking Depo shot. The discharge is expected to discontinue after few days else you can get vaginal swab test.
