What Causes Brown Flakes In Urine With History Of Kidney Stones?

Today it felt like I was passing a kidney stone from my bladder; however, there are large quantities on light brown flakes coming out. Passing them is quite painful. I ve been on prednisone for two weeks and I have stage three kidney disease, but I ve never seen anything like this. Lengthy history of kidney stones.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Kidney stones can pass in the urine especially when there is long history of kidney stones.
Passage of brown flakes has to be investigated for.
Stones which pass into the urine are quite small and not flaky.
A urine examination is suggested to look for presence of crystals, pus cells, red blood cells etc.
Further investigations may be required to find the cause of pain abdomen and painful urination.
Treatment can be planned thereafter.

Thanks and take care
