What Causes Brown Liquid Drainage From Breasts?

I have just noticed a discharge from my right nipple and am wondering about it. I noticed on the inside of my bra, I did squeeze and some looks like brownish liquid came out, not much. Being a holiday week-end my doctor s office is closed and I am kinda anxious about this. i have multiple myeloma and have been in remission for for years. I do a Velcad maintance shot once a week. Of course seeing this i became paranoid. Can you help me?

Hello,

The following are few causes of brown breast discharge:
1) Fibroadenosis
2) Breast abscesses
3) Lactating mothers
4) Various drugs like tricyclic Antidepressants

You don't need to worry at all as the greenish brown discharge can soon become handling.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
