What Causes Brown Spots On The Shoulders?

I noticed brown spots on my shoulders recently...I thought it may be from being in the sun last summer. I used a exfoliator in the shower and thought that was why it went away...the truth is it comes and goes. Yesterday I woke up and my arms from the shoulders to my hands were covered in brown spots. I used an over the counter steroid cream and it pretty much went away. I am concerned with regards to what is causing this...any ideas??

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be amelanotic patch.

Consult a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis.

If there is a recent increase in size or change in color, it is better to go for a biopsy.

As a first line management, you can apply low potency steroid creams like Betamethasone for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
