I m a 25 years old, 6ft tall male weighing 160lbs. Within the last 5 days, I ve noticed about 15 brown spots on my skin. 2 of them are birthmarks which used to be very small but they have grown in size along with the new brown spots. They are on my face and arms, although the 2 birthmarks are on my torso and shoulder which usually get no sun exposure. Are these sun spots and are there any malignant potential? Thanks.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The spots on sun exposed area could be Freckle and spots on sun protected area might be Lentigenes. Malignant potential depends on type of patient's skin. Malignant change is uncommon. But if you observe any rapid change in size and shape of lesion or if there is any ulceration on lesion, these could be a sign of malignant change. If you observe any of the above changes, you should consult your Dermatologist immediately.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
