Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, my husband has all of a sudden (over the past year) developed brown spots all over his legs. He has Irish skin and has for some time dealt with red scaly spots on his arms - particularly after being in the sun, but these brow spots are increasingly bothering him and becoming more noticeable. They are not raised, light brown in color and all different sizes.
These all look like age spots. Usually these are in the area commonly exposed to Sun. They may be caused / aggravated by unsaturated fats in diet, vitamin E deficiency or stress etc. Usually these do not go by themselves but may be faded with time. These are usually not worth concern, but may need treatment for cosmetic purpose. The treatment may be with bleaching creams consisting of hydroquinone, retinoid and a mild steroid. It may gradually fade the spots in months. Other treatments may be by laser or intense pulsed light, cryotherapy, by dermabrasion and peeling off chemically.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
