What Causes Brown Spots Upper Foot Upon Applying Ice Pack To Sprained Ankle?
I sprained my ankle two weeks ago (I have don t this multiples times in my life) and I was icing it with the pack directly on my skin. I have never had a problem but this last time I started to get a dark brown spot on the top of my foot close to my ankle. I stopped icing thinking it was cause this brown spot. Now the spot has grown and it seems to have a few more brown spot friends near by. I am hoping it is not gangrene (spelling). Thoughts
As per my clinical experience, the dark brown spot over upper foot does not indicate gangrene, but benign condition. It is the hematoma (blood collection) with secondary changes in color via tissue breakdown of the collected blood. Continue to apply ice over the part with prescription of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs as serratiopeptidase or others for best results of dissolution.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
