What Causes Brown Stains On The Finger Tip?

My 19th month old son has been having dark brown stains on the tips of his index fingers for over a month. The brownish color is darker some days than others. looking closely it looks like burst blood vessels but i can not be sure. Any ideas of what this could mean? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It could be of great help if you can send a photo of his index fingers to me so I can evaluate the changes myself. I think you should see his pediatrician as soon as possible as this has been going on for a month now. We should rule out local and general problems especially those related to cardiovascular system. To me, should see pediatrician as soon as possible. After a good physical examination, he/she will guide you accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
