General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Deposit primera is a long acting progesterone derivative contraceptive. Irregular bleedings / absence of periods is characteristic effect of the medicine. Even after discontinuation, it takes about 6-8 months for periods to get normal and till then conception is not possible. The brown discharge you have is because your body is yet not free from the effect of the contraceptive. Please patiently wait for the periods to resume their normal pattern. In case it takes more than one year, consult your gynecologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
