What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge After Having IUD?
Hi I have the copper coil this is my second coil and it s been in place for about 5 years in the last 5 months I have had brown discharge and extra periods in the last 2 months what on earth is going on with me I am 40 and worried about this as its not normal and I don t seem to be getting much of a break from any of it.
Hello Dear. You might be having Pelvic infection which occurs in some women with Copper T. Copper T contains hormonal content which may cause some side effects
Some of the complications of copper T insertions are
Increased menstrual bleeding Cramps. Nausea. Backache. Vaginal discharge. Inflammation of the vagina. Pelvic infection (uterus), which usually happens within three weeks after insertion. Ectopic pregnancy (egg implanting outside the womb) – very small risk but very serious.
Kindly consult a gynecologist who may treat you with antibiotics and pain killers or may suggest removal of copper T if infection cannot be controlled with antibiotics.
Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you. All the best With warm regards Dr Sanjay Kini
