What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge After Taking Plan-B?
I took the plan B pill and 6 days later I started to get a brown discharge. This is a week early for my period. Is this my period? Or is just discharge and soon my period will come? I ve heard that this is normal and I m having all of the same symptoms as my period. I m just confused whether I should be worried that my period is still to come or that this is a lighter version of my period and that I shouldn t worry about being pregnant.
I understand your concern. Plan B is an emergency contraceptive pill, which needs to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse to prevent accidental or unwanted pregnancy. Following the pill intake, it would prevent pregnancy by causing breakthrough bleeding in the form of periods within 3 weeks. Accordingly, your periods might get rescheduled. Also, sometimes, you may experience symptoms such as vaginal discharge, spotting or abdominal cramps before the onset of bleeding. If you do not get bleeding by 3 weeks, you need to take a urine pregnancy test and seek medical attention promptly.
Hope the information provided would be helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further. All the best.
