What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge After Taking Antibiotics For Diverticulitis?
My wife contracted diverticulitis. Admitted to the hospital after a week of pain, cramps nausea and throwing up. Spent a week in hospital with IVS that included heavy antibiotics and pain medicine and medicines for nausea. She was released Saturday a week ago when the CT scan showed that the abscess was gone. Antibiotics scripts for 10 days after release. Our concern, she is now having a brown discharge through her vagina. Should we be concerned? Thanks.
Yes, you should be concerned without an exam, I can only give general information. Cannot say in your particular case, but generally, it could be the inflammation of the diverticulitis has caused a connection between the bowel and the reproductive system. It could be a change in the vaginal bacteria to something really dangerous growing there. In theory, totally coincidental uterine bleeding possibly cancer. I should mention that every one of these is over 80% curable even being a bit pessimistic on the odds.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
