What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge And Breast Tenderness While On Contraceptives?
I have pcos. About six months ago i started taking birth control to regulate my period. I am still currently using birth control. Today i was scheduled to start my period. And i did, but later in the day than usual. When i started it was normal, light, and pinkish reddish. About thirty minutes after i had checked, i went to use the restroom, and i wiped and there was brown discharge instead of blood. Could this be early signs of pregnancy? My boobs have been tender, more tender than usual. I also took a pregnancy test about two weeks ago and it said negative.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
HI, I understand your concern. If you had taken your contraceptive pill regularly, without a break... there is no chance of conception. The brown discharge you have is beginning of periods. Tenderness of breast is a side effect of oral contraceptives & ususally disappears after few months of using contraceptive pills. Thanks.
