What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge While On Ava 20 ED?
I am on the birth control pill Ava 20 ED and since Thursday last week ( it is now Friday of the second week ) I have been having brown and red blood from my vagina it is mildly heavy and I have to change my pad every once a day. I had unprotected sex 3 weeks ago. What is this?
Ava 20 ED can cause breakthrough bleeding. Breakthrough bleeding can be spotting, menstrual flow changes, heavy bleeding or amenorrhea. During unprotected sex 3 weeks ago, if you were on regular CP then risk of getting pregnant is fewer / rare. However, get clinically examined by a Gynae. Get blood tests and urine tests done to detect early miscarriage or implantation bleeding if pregnant.
Bleeding can also occur due to hormonal imbalance, thyroid dysfunction, fibroid, endometriosis, etc. If pregnant, you will be accordingly treated. If not pregnant, you will have to go through a few tests to detect pathology causing the symptoms or detect any underlying medical condition that may be causing you symptoms. In either way treatment will be started at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
