Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Many women experience
abnormal vaginal bleeding or
spotting between periods sometime in their lives. It is also called 'inter-menstrual bleeding'.
Such vaginal bleeding is considered to be abnormal if it occurs:
1. When you are not expecting your menstrual period.
2. When your menstrual flow is lighter or heavier than what is normal for you.
Causes for this could be:
1. Hormonal imbalance: Imbalance in the Estrogen and
progesterone hormones that regulate your cycle. Dysfunctional ovaries, thyroid gland problems, and starting and stopping birth control pills, can all affect your hormone balance.
2. Intrauterine device: Birth control device inserted into the uterus can cause abnormal bleeding.
3.
Pregnancy complications: Miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies can cause bleeding.
4. Uterine fibroids or polyps: Non-cancerous growths.
5. Infection of the reproductive organs.
6. Cancer: Less commonly, cancer of the cervix, vagina, uterus or ovaries may cause bleeding.
Kindly get an
ultrasound scan done and get a per-speculum examination done by Gynecologist to make sure what could be the cause for it. It can be addressed to accordingly.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
All the best.
