What Causes Brown Vaginal Spotting After Receiving A Depo Provera Shot?
I got a Depo Provera shot about 2 months ago. I go back the 15th for another. I had my period for exactly 2 weeks and then it stopped. Exactly two weeks later it started again now this time it was dark brown the entire time. It has now faded to a yellow color, what could this be? Its light discharge and only appears on the pad in one spot, when I wipe I see no color but it appears on the pad.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Brown vaginal spotting could happen with depot shots due to discharge of retrained old blood or endometrial tissue. This is more often seen during the first few months after the shot has been taken. Gradually, such symptoms should subside on its own with out any need for intervention. However, you may need an ultrasound scan of abdomen and per speculum examination, if this symptoms continues and become bothersome. In such an instance, kindly consult Gynecologist for appropriate evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
