What Causes Brownish Discharge During Menstruation?

I am 53 years old. I know I am hitting menopause. Last month I did not have a normal period, I only had a brown discharge. This month, I am bleeding, (on day 9 now), also passing clots, (which I do during my normal periods). Is this part of menopause, or should I be concerned about the excessive bleeding??

Hallow Dear,

You have rightly said; you are approaching your menopause. During perimenopausal period, irregularities in menstrual cycle and bleeding are noted. Your alteration in menstruation is most likely due to this.

However, please do not take the things for granted. As a screening test, get your ultrasonography done. If the thickness of your uterine lining (endometrium) is less than 4 mm, you need not worry.. If it is thicker, you may have to undergo hysteroscopic examination with biopsy of the endometrium.

I hope this helps you.
