What Causes Brownish Discharge With Clots During Menstruation?
Hi I m getting what I thought is my period but it s like a very dark brown/ black, very stringy (I touched it and it pulled like a string) discharge mixed with red blood & clots. I see it on my tampon but if I wear a pad, nothing comes out. I m really concerned. I ve had this previous in my last menstrual cycle, I had a normal period, had sex and the week after it happened for a few days ( I assumed it was just old blood making its way out) Now it happened again but without the normal period beforehand. I was taking Cerzette mini pill which I just stopped taking a week ago. I m not experiencing any pains or cramps. Should contact my doctor?
Hello, I have gone through the query and understood your concern. Yes, you should contact your doctor. Your menstrual pattern suggests hormone imbalance and some breakthrough bleeding perhaps due to insufficient endometrial pattern. The pill-effect also has to be considered and so is any recent weight change, stress, medication and infection. If you happened to have any unprotected intercourse, pregnancy also would be needed to be excluded, but, since you are on the pill, this may not be likely. Hope your query has been clarified. Take care.
