Hello. I have a question about my menstral cycle. My menstral cycle is about to end for this month and I have been seeing a brown discharge. I've been reading online briefly about it and it said the discharge may be from old blood. This discharge has been happening since yesterday. I've been feeling a little bit uneasy with a loss of appetite.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Ina Zaimi's Response
Hello Madam,
Thank you for your question and welcome to Health Magic Care. I read your query and I understand your concern.
The condition that you are describing is normal, you do not have to worry about it. Brown discharge is usually normal, especially when it occurs during your menstrual cycle. A late discharge at the end of your period can look brown instead of red, and may happen because this is the body's way of releasing any old endometrial tissue that was not shed during the menstrual cycle. The information you already have is true; in happens that sometimes remainings of old blood , become dark brown in color when they stay longer in your genital tract.
Hope I helped with my answer. For further concerns feel free to ask again, I will be happy to help you.
Take Care, Dr. Ina Zaimi
