What Causes Bruise Under Lip Causing Discolouration After Having A Drink?
What cAuses sudden bruised upper lip on a child Doesn t hurt and they don t remember doing anything to cause it. Had it happen to both my girls around five gYears of age. She just finished eTinf a freezie when I noticed under her nose was red but 1/2 hour later it was all purple like a bad bruise ?
Bruise on the upper lip may be due to trauma, insect bite, accidental biting of lip, allergic reaction, usage of drugs like Aspirin and Warfarin, low platelet count, hemophilia or leukemia. Minor bruising is not a cause of concern as it subsides on itself by 5-7 days. If bruises appear without any trauma or cause, spontaneously and at many locations, then you need to see a doctor for thorough clinical examination and appropriate treatment.
Most probably your kid might have injured her lip somewhere or bitten her lip. So please don't worry. It will get reduced by itself or you may do cold compression or application of ice on the site. Thrombophob ointment can be used.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
