What Causes Bruised And Painful Ankle?

My ankle is brusied a bit, but I don t rememeber hitting it on anything. After longboarding for a few days it started to hurt. I took two days off then went longboarding yesterday. The pain has gotten worse and has migrate. At first it was more on the side, then on both sides, and now on the back. Then, the arch of my foot hurts at times as well. When my arch hurts it sometimes radiates to my ankle. My ankle also hurts when I move my toes. The pain is sudden and doesn t stay for long. If I move my foot downward it hurts, but it goes away once my righten it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, you are suffering from tendon pain and it might be some injury that you didn’t notice but the bruise made it evident. I would recommend you to get proper rest at least for 5 days, take anti inflammatory like ibuprofen one tab twice a day. If possible get X-ray of the ankle if the pain is not settling or getting worse.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
