Hi, my son, a 31 year old, African american, healthy male woke up this morning with a 3 inch almost perfectly round bruise on the outer thigh of his left leg about 4 inches above his knee. He was not involved in any activity where he was injured. What could cause this type of bruising?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have bruising above the knee. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like injury , haemophilia , von willebrand's disease , allergic reaction , thrombocytopaenia , liver disease , blood poisoning and diabetes . I would suggest you to consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may order skin patch test , allergy test and blood test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may refer you to nephrologist for kidney problem or gastroenterologist for liver or metabolic problem . For now apply ice pack for thrice a day for 24 hours , after 24 hours apply warm compresses thrice a day , apply aloe vera gel and take vitamin c supplement for quick healing .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
