Hello,
Sorry to hear about the symptoms. Now to figure this out we need some more details as his works in a chemical environment? Because any chemical inhalation can lead to other symptoms which aren't expected.
Now since there is pain in the spinal region will you be kind to explain that it's on side of the spine or centre of spine, also is the pain in the lower back, upper back or mid-thoracic region.
Usually due to chemical inhalation there might be some changes happening in the blood stream and some infection may have been developed which we cannot confirm until we get the blood and urine test.
Also, if he is working in a chemical environment, is he doing strenuous works? If so then it could be
muscular weakness and needs to allow the swelling to come down and then strengthening can be done.
But for now nothing more detailed mentioned I will advice to get the blood routine, and have a general physician physical checkup.
It might not be anything related to major
injury but been conscious at early stages seeing the work environment is always good. Ask him to do hot water fermentation and take rest.
When going to work, use a nasal mask so unwanted chemical substances do not enter the respiratory system.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
