What Causes Bruising And Swelling At Blood Withdrawal Site?
I had blood drawn today for work, and I had a pretty large hematoma that formed about a half inch to the right (from my perspective) of the vein afterwards. I felt her go through my vein. (I m also a phlebotomist) It has gone down considerably with ice packs off and on, and is still raised and very bruised, but continues to get smaller with time. Should I be concerned about a clot?
Hello, according to me there might have been superficial bleeding which is seen in 50 % of cases after withdrawing blood. It will be absorbed by the surrounding tissues and it will eventually subside in matter of 1 week time. As you already said its getting smaller with time, that means its already regressing and getting absorbed. Don't worry, even if there is a clot, it will be totally normal in matter of a week. Thank you
