What Causes Bruising And Swelling Below The Knee Post Trauma?

What would I need to look for in a shinbone fracture that would have occurred almost a week ago? The skin is protruding around the impacted area. There is bruising and swelling from below the knee all the way to the foot and most of the purple/blackish discoloration is from below the impacted area to the ankle and top of the foot. Went to the Dr when it was done, dr thinks it was just a major contusion, dr did not do an x-ray. Am I just being over paranoid and should just give it longer to heal, or should I insist on an x-ray?

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, such injury need to be sent for x-ray because what the symptoms are given here could be due to bad fracture (Displaced ) and that might cause the soft tissue injuries too and bleeding it demands the immediate orthopedic attention hope this information and advise helps.
