What Causes Bruising And Tightness Above The Ankle After An Injury?

I hit the back of my leg about 2 inches above the ankle on a falling gate about 3 months ago. I have a black and blue mark from that happening and it hasn t gone away and I get tightness on that part of my leg every once and awhile. Should I be concerned about it?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is nothing but a contusion. This is quite common after a trauma and is due to collection of blood underneath the skin following trauma. In most cases it will settle by itself. You can apply warm compression for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
