What Causes Bruising On The Corner Of The Eyes?

I tripped on Saturday, flew out of the room and hit the top of my head on a door frame. I was checked out by a doctor at a clinic, but since then, I have developed bruising on the outside corner of my eye. Could this be related to my head hitting the door frame?
