What Causes Build Up Of Stringy And Sticky Phlegm?
Hi, I m a 21 year old healthy male. Over the last year or longer I ve had this on going problem, every morning and all throughout the day I have an uncomfortable build up of phlegm (Not the nicest thing to talk about). That is stringy and sticky (sticks to a finger) , sometime brown and hard. I can constantly feel it in my throat and find my self trying to force it up from my throat. I ve been to the doctors several times and every time it s it might just be the way your body is or try this nasal spray It is unbelievably uncomfortable and a complete nightmare. Thought someone would be able to shed some light. Thanks
Hello. Thanks for asking Healthcare Magic. Phlegm is a secretion in the airway during disease and inflammation. It usually contains mucus with bacteria, debris. You might have infection of the lungs it you are coughing out sputum on regular basis. I would suggest to take appropriate antibiotics like amoxycillin and clavulanic acid 625 mg two times a day along with bronchodilator and mucolytic syrup for 5 days. Steam inhalation two times a day and plenty of fluids. Hope this helps. Thanks
