What Causes Bump On Foot After An Injury?

Hi, I dropped my iPad and the corner of it hit the center of my foot. When it first hit there was lots of stabbing pain and tingling, and I couldn t feel any of my toes, there was also an immediate bump and brusing. Then gradually my toes began turning purple/black and the center of my foot turned bright red. I took three Advil and I have been resting my foot, but the bump on my foot it getting bigger. Is there a possibility that u could have broken one of the bones in the top of my foot?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that due to hitting of the corner of the iPad over the centre of foot there has been sudden trauma to the soft tissues in the area of the hit as well as the superficial blood vessels and terminal nerve endings also get traumatized..
This leads to inflammation and generalized swelling at the site of injury..
Stabbing pain and tingling is due to soft tissue inflammation as well as nerve injury causing tingling sensation..
Bruising and bump formation is due to spillage of blood from damaged blood vessels leading to accumulation of blood into soft tissues and hematoma formation..
In case if you are able to put weight on your foot then chances of having bony fracture are less..
I would however suggest you to consult an Orthopedician and get an x ray done..
In case if there is bony fracture reduction and immobilization will be done...
In case if there is only soft tissue injury then doing cool compresses, application of numbing gel to relieve pain, heparin gel to reduce bruising and elevating the feet when lying down and continuing taking advil to reduce pain and swelling will help..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
