What Causes Bumps On Back Of Tongue?

I thought the bumps on the back of my tongue were caused by sinus drippage but they have not gone away. When I swallow my throat feels as if I have a sheet of thin paper over the back of my tongue- no pain though. My tongue feels thick in th e back where the bumps are.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thank you for posting.

I have gone through your query and I understand your concerns.

Bumps on back of tongue are caused by TLP(transient lingual papillitis). TLP is a harmless, but annoying problem. The cause of TLP is unknown, but factors that aggravate are smoking and alcoholic drinks.

Medications such as OraBase or Zilactin can be applied.

Contact your stomatologist.

All the best.
Dr. Behar.
