Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi my 5 year old has two bumps on the back of her tongue. She says they don't hurt but I am concerned if she might have something contagious! The bumps are on the very back of her tongue and look like warts or blisters! I am going to try to get pictures of them!
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain bumps at the back of the tongue of your child seems to be inflamed Circumvallete Papillae that contains taste buds and are located at the very back of tongue in a typical "V" shaped pattern.. They commonly does not indicate any serious illness and can commonly occur due to inflammation caused by burning with hot food or fluids, infection in throat or Oral infections..
Nothing to worry , make her do warm saline gargles and give Ibuprofen.. Sucking ice pops and cold water gargles can also help by reducing inflammation..
If you do not see improvement in a week consult a Pedodontist and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
