What Causes Bumpy Rashes On The Chest And Shoulder After A Body Massage?

I had a full body massage this afternoon. Have massages quite often but not for last year. Deep tissue. Same area where I felt extremely tight and burned during massage has gotten hotter and hotter since home four hours ago and now I have a bumpy rash only on my chest and left shoulder ... area that was extremely tight. I know their products don t bother me since I let them know upfront unscented only lotion and I have it no where else. Can it be the toxins being released? I am currently putting ice on it and took two Benadryl about fifteen minutes ago. I have been suffering from psoriasis on my scalp but that has subsided so I wasn t sure if maybe while I am just getting over a bout of psoriasis if that could be contributing to this due to the inflammation it creates? Any tips or can psoriasis be a possible cause?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that the abnormal sensation and rash may be a reaction to a product used or shingles if you have a previous history of chicken pox.

Shingles would cause a burning sensation as well as a rash to develop. It would be associated with discomfort as well.

Benadryl would help if the symptoms are due to an allergic reaction but would not be typically helpful with shingles.
A pain killer such as an anti inflammatory medication would help with the discomfort eg naproxen, ibuprofen, cataflam

I hope this helps
