What Causes Burned Smell Of Toast In My Nose Always

Hi, I am a 44 year old mother and over the past few days or so I have been plagued by the smell of burned toast when there is no toast or food in sight! Sometimes it is really strong and quite annoying and yet nobody else can smell it when I do. My health is generally good. My eyesight has reduced recently and the opthalmologist suggested I get my bllod pressure checked as I have 'corrupted vessels' in my eyes but BP is good - low in fact. Any ideas what the burned toast smell could be? Lixy :)

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this constant abnormal smell that you have reported. Unfortunately, this has no real pathological significance and I am pretty convinced it will soon disappear. It is more of a stored perception in the brain than the nostrils actually picking up something abnormal in the environment. I am pretty confident this would soon disappear with time.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.
