What Causes Burning And Itchiness In The Throat During Pregnancy?
Hi, I m pregnant and I ate and it didn t digest and I threw up a few hours later and I feel a burning and irritating sensation in my throat. I also feel like there is a lump at the base of my throat and when I swallow I feel it there. I m scared maybe food got stuck in my airway but it s not affecting my breathing. But I choke sometimes when I try to swallow saliva. I m scared of sleeping so I don t choke in my sleep. What can I do for relief?
Burning, itching and feeling of a lump in the throat could have been caused due to mucosal damage following throwing up. Kindly take the following conservative measures to overcome the same.
1. Do salt water gargling with warm water thrice daily.
2. Take medicated lozenges.
3. Keep yourself well hydrated by consuming good quantity of water.
4. Take Vitamin B6 medications to avoid morning sickness and excess vomiting. Gradually, you should be able to overcome the symptoms and feel back to normal.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
