What Causes Burning And Itching After Diagnosed With Yeast Infection?
1 1/2 weeks ago I went to the Dr and was diagnosed with a yeast infection and given diflucan. Five days later it wasn t any better, I had a little itching but then it started burning. I was given another dose of diflucan. While it has gotten better, I still have some burning on the inside. I went back to the Dr. and they tested for STDs and it came back negative. Is there something else I should be looking at?
Hi, Welcome to HCM. Along with oral Diflucan weekly once for 3-4 weeks, topical anti-fungal creams also may be necessary for a total eradication of yeast infection.Burning sensation may be due to dribbling of urine or water on an already scratched areas.Itching denotes that the yeast infection had not been totally cured. Abstinence is important till the complete cure had been achieved. Sex partners need to be examined and treated if necessary. Diabetes, prolonged antibiotics, steroids and other immuno-suppressive drugs and oral contraceptives are likely to cause a relapse. Get well soon. Dr S.Murugan
