Have you heard of Burning Mouth Syndrome - randomly onset in one day, waking up with a white coated tongue every morning. It is swollen. After I brush, it is red for the rest of the day and hypersensitive to salt, sugar and spice. My lips swell, then recede. I have switched to Biotene toothpaste and a spray to give my mouth relief, even though it stings. Food is impossible to eat. Bananas and peanut butter BURN because of the sugars. Anything with texture is impossible to chew. I am doing iron infusions weekly (have had three) as I was diagnosed as anaemic in April with very very low ferritin levels. Internal Medicine specialist and my doctor have never heard of this. I found this BMS on my own and have done research. I do not know if this is hormone related. I am 50, have not started any peri-menopausal symptoms yet. I sleep well. Was vegan/vegetarian for about three years. B12 and Thyroid are normal. Docs thought maybe a vitamin deficiency. Have been supplementing with B100 Complex and Cal/Mag, as it almost feels like a nerve issue. Have been to the dentist, did panoramic xrays - everything is normal. Found medical papers on BMS online. Not much research. Maybe I will try an anti-depressant? Anti-inflammatory? Nothing gives me relief. Please help me.
