Hello, Thanks for the query. After surgery usually hemorrhoids do not reappear with in few months. The same is possible after a few years. However, if you have the symptoms and also feel there is swelling, may continue using over the counter remedies (ointments like Proctosedyl ) and there are some herbal tablets which do help in controlling the pain, irritation even swelling. Apart from that you will have to continue taking less spicy food, increased quantity of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits and plenty of water. Plus always use whole grain foods. Even avoid deep fried foods. Maintain regular bowel habits, avoid getting constipated as hard stools can be more irritating and can aggravate. But please remember it is a recurring condition. Take care. Thanks
