What Causes Burning Pain Below The Breast Bone When Feeling Hungry?
I have pain just below my breast bone. It is a burning pain and seems to be related to eating. Is more of a grinding burning pain when I am hungry. Gets worse with stress. Saw internist who said that I eat too fast. I have been taking Zantac twice daily which seems to help. Doctor told me to stop taking anything but liquid type antacids like Mylanta. Thanking you in advance for your answer.
Thanks for your question. I am Dr Asanghanwa Carlson. I would say you are suffering from gastritis which is a condition which causes inflammation and possibly ulcers in the stomach which is located within the same region where you happen to feel the pains when you are hungry. I would advise you avoid lots of alcohol, very spicy foods, eat regularly, and also avoid stress or reduce it to its minimum and continue taking your medications. However if that persists, I will advise you see a gastroenterologist so a fibroscopy is done to see the inside of your stomach. Good luck.
