What Causes Burning Pain From Rib Cage To Abdomen Upon Stretching?

I have a thin, rope-like structure starting near the edge of my rib cage , extending down, past my cage cage to my upper abdomin, approx 3-4 inches long. If I stretch too much there is a burning pain and I can also see it below the skin as if it s being pulled from under the skin.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Very likely what you are describing is a muscle that is being overstretched and painful when you stretch.
The fact that it feels like a rope structure under the skin further supports this.
I would recommend you to avoid stretching as this may cause the muscle fibers to get damaged and further have pain.
You may also use paracetamol and ibuprofen to help with the pain.

If you are not better with the above measures in 2 weeks or you notice any worsening you will need to see your doctor.

I hope this gives some answers to your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj
