Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was swimming in a pool yesterday with a shirt on and when I got done and took my shirt off to take a shower my nipples started to burn. I m a guy. I tried getting in water with a shirt on today and it started burning again. when I took a shower a few minutes ago it still burned. can you tell me why they burn? and what to do to help?
The burning nipples after getting in water in swimming pool is often shown as a reaction to chlorine in swimming pool. If you keep your clothes on, the chlorine will stay more on clothes and your body including nipples will be more exposed. So, I think you should stop swimming for some days until improvement. Have frequent baths with hypo-allergic shampoo. Apply calamine lotion on the itchy skin. If still no improvement, then should see your doctor for further evaluation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
