What Causes Burning Pain In The Abdomen Post A Choleocystectomy?

I just had surgery on May 26th where they removed my gallbladder. I am experiencing a burning pain in my stomach that is not going away. I m afraid I might have an ulcer. I ve been under a lot of stress. How will I know if it s an ulcer or something worse?

Hi,

In the absence of gall bladder after surgery persistant pain seems likely originating from stomach but for reassurance ultrasound abdomen to look for any signs of pancreatitis and blood amylase and lipase levels may be needed. If unremarkable upper GI endoscopy is the most appropriate way to establish any gastric cause however before invasive procedure antacids like omerperazole before meals as well as motilly agents like domperidone or itapride before meals may be helpful.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
