Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have hot burning pains in my hands and feet. Previously I had sensations like some insect biting me which got really bad. My doctor didnt know anything about it. I read that Vitamin D should help so I started taking it and it did help. Those sensations stopped but now these pains I am having are really getting bad. I would like to increase the vitamin D but I know that too much vitamin D is harmful. I also have PMR and high BP. for which I am being medicated. Also multiple erosions on stomach lining. What should I do?
Hi, burning and pain at distal areas can have many causes but most important are nerve related diseases. B12 defeciency, alcohol and diabetes are common causes of nerve related diseases. BP tablets containing hydrochloro thiazide or chlorthalidine (you may check) can cause low potassium in blood which may cause pain (not typical burning) in hands and feet. your physician will help on that. vit D can be taken as 1000 IU tablets dialy for 3 months. addition of omeprazole along with dietary modifications like soft and non spicy diet, quitting smoking and alcohol can heal stomach erosions . hope this helps.
