What Causes Burning Pain In The Knee Upon Kneeling Down?
I am 65 years old and have had not pain in my knees up to now. However, I kneeled on our hardwood floor a few weeks ago and felt an immediate burning pain on the outside of the knee. It eventually subsided and I have no residual pain when walking, pushing on it, etc. However, it still hurts/burns when I kneel on that knee (even on carpet). Any idea what this could be?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Burning pain what you are experiencing could be due to inflammation of bursa present over the knees, which is termed as bursitis. Generally, when you have bursitis, it would cause pain when the movements make the capsule lining the bursa stretched. It can be treated by means of anti-inflammatory-analgesic medications. Also, you may need to take certain supportive measures as to give rest to joints. Kindly consult Orthopedician for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope the information provided helps.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran. S
