What Causes Burning Pain In The Knees Post A Total Knee Replacement Surgery?
my wife has undergone TKR of both knees about a month back, she is regularly taking exercises as recommended by the doctor. but she is still having burning pain. Please advise whether it is natural or not. If natural how much time it will take to recover from this burning pain
Pain after knee replacement surgery is a common complain but should not be neglected. Your wife is suggested to get a follow up clinical examination done by the treating surgeon at the earliest. The cause of such symptoms may be infection, loosening of the implant, alignment problems or patellofemoral (knee cap) issues. She may need to have repeat blood & imaging tests done to detect the factor causing discomfort. She may need immediate medical care.
Recovery from total knee replacement varies from individual to individual. Some recover after 6 weeks while some may take 6 months to one year recovering from the surgery. Stay in contact with the surgeon & get the follow up treatments done.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
