What Causes Burning Sensation And Blisters Around Stitches On The Knee?
Hi,I got stitches a week a go on the knee. Could move or walk for 3days. Today i woke up with a hitching and burning sensation and realise i had blisters aroud my stitches that look like they are filled with watery substance is it normal? I still have a hard time walking and going down the stairs its been a week now. Thank you!
The fluid-filled blisters do occur in certain people around the suture site following surgery. There are certain factors that could trigger that. It could be due to allergic reaction to the suture material or antibiotic cream that you may be applying there too. Here are a few things you can do to alleviate it:
1) Use cold compress it will help you relieve the itching and burning sensation around the blisters.
2) Here we prescribe topical 1% Hydrocortisone cream for people with similar blisters which will help to alleviate it.
3) Apply vaseline it can help it too.
4) If its itchy take an oral antihistamine.
5) Avoid scratching the blisters as it may infect it.
If it still persist please schedule an appointment with your surgeon.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
