What Causes Burning Sensation And Dryness Around The Lips?

Hello. I have burning, dry sore lips that the red sometimes spreads to area around lips. It s been 6 months and I have been to My family Doctor who referred me to dermatologist. We have tried Topicort, did patch testing for any allergies. Blood work for food and environmental. Only allergy that the rest indicated was to wool alcohol or Lanolin. All I use is Vaseline 100 percent petroleum. Help me with this. I have no idea what is causing this, could it be hormonal ? Thanks

Understanding your concern.

As per your query you have symptoms of burning sensation and dryness around lips which is mainly because of nerve damage or dysfunction as the cranial nerves from the brain supply the lips.

If its simply chapped lips or herpes infection then it would have been resolved till now as 6 months is a long duration for this. Fungal infection, folliculitis is also the major cause for your condition.

I would suggest you to visit dermatologist once and get it examined properly. Apply antifungal creams on outer boundary of lips. apply creams rich in kojic acid at day time. Cover your face with cotton cloth tp protect your face from sunlight .

Apply unscented burts bees balm on your lips at bedtime. Apply ice cubes or ice pack pressure for 5-10 minutes after every hour. Apply apple cedar vinegar on it or dip cotton in tea tree oil and apply on this area, your symptoms will start resolving.
