What Causes Burning Sensation And Pain In Breast Along With Dry Nipple?
I have burning and pain that comes on suddenly in my left breast and the nipple feels like it is dry or possibly has a scab but I don t see anything. The pain is like a shooting pain and lasts for several seconds to minutes. It is tender to touch even just brushing my arm against it. I haven t had a mammogram in about 4 years but have one scheduled in August. Should I be overly concerned?
Breast pain, tightness of breast or burning sensation can be related to menstrual cycles and is called as cyclical mastalgia and can occur as a part of pre-menstrual symptom. Evening primrose oil and vitamin E may provide moderate relief in many women.
If the symptoms are unrelated to menstrual cycles, breast diseases like mastitis and tumours should be ruled out. I would suggest you to take a mammogram to identify any abnormalities. Self examination of the breast should be done frequently to rule out any abnormal lumps.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
