What Causes Burning Sensation And Pain In The Feet?

Hi, I am a 55 female 5 4 and 150lbs pretty active. After a day of flyfishing wading in cold waters, later that even my feet began to really hurt and burn. As the evening progress my left foot felt like it was on fire and starting to hurt. Within 2 hours I was seriously considering going to ER because my left foot felt like it was broken and I could not put an pressure at all on it to walk and laying in bed the pain was deep and constant. I took 1000mg of ibuprofen and the pain slowly decrease but now my feet hurt and burn a lot. All my joints feel tight and lock up a lot. Today as I was sitting in a meeting my left foot started going numb and tingling like needles. Had to move it around and get up and walk around to get feeling back. My question: Is this possibly some sort of nueroprothy?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern. Yes, the burning, numbness, tingling & pain is suggestive of neuropathy. May follow stressful walk in water causing spinal strain affecting net esupplying the affected leg.

It can follow long standing diabetes. Rest. Hot or cold compresses as per need, tablet Ibuprofen twice a day for 5 days along with Nurobion pills over the counter should relieve.

In case of no relief or recurrence. Need consultation of an orthopedic doctor for further investigations & management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
