What Causes Burning Sensation And Swelling In Tongue While On Cipro?

I had a terrible reaction last night with a red swollentongue were I couldn't speak and it burned.i had just gotten out of bed and. Started halucinating very frighting, my husband helped me but I COULDN'THE SPEAK. FOR. THE LAST FOUR DAYS I'VE been on a five day cipro reigme,I didn't take the 5.which would have been yesterday. I was able relieve the swollen tongue with a spoonful of coconut oil.I HAVE NO TAKEN ANY MEDS SINCE Oof antibiotics for a bladder infection ogue

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern . As per your query you have burning sensation and swelling in tongue while on Cipro. There can be many reason for burning sensation and swelling of tongue like fungal infection ,dry mouth ,vitamin deficiency or allergic reaction to some food. It can also occur due to side effects of some medicine . I would suggest you to consult dentist /oral pathologist for proper examination .Doctor may order blood test, saliva test or allergic test. For now rinse mouth with cold water several times a day ,start multivitamin supplement , keep your stress level low and take ibuprofen (if not allergic) or acetaminophen for pain and inflammation . Keep taking probiotics food , maintain proper oral hygiene and keep your self hydrate .
